I represent Sarah “Sally” Minge Walker Walton. I was the wife of George Walton, Jr., the Secretary of the Territory of West Florida in the American government set up by General Andrew Jackson. After Jackson’s departure, my husband was appointed acting Governor. George and I and our children stayed in Pensacola until 1836, when we moved to Mobile where George served as Mayor for several years. He had always managed to stay in trouble due to having a terrible head for money, and when he left Mobile, I stayed behind. I passed away in 1861 and am buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile.
