I represent Tiburcio Benjamino Ruby, a free pardo boy born in Pensacola in 1815. I was baptized by Father Coleman at St. Michael’s in 1817. At the time of the 1820 census of Pensacola, I was 6 years old. I lived with my parents: Salvador Ruby, a free pardo man who worked as a shoemaker; and Maria Carlota Ruby, a free parda woman who worked as a laundress; and my 8 siblings.
