I represent Luis Felix, a boy of color enslaved in the household of Don Pedro de Alba. I was baptized by Father Coleman at St. Michael’s on December 9, 1818, a couple of weeks after my birth. My mother was Maria Rosa, a negra woman enslaved in the same household. I was born into slavery by virtue of her enslaved status. My father is listed as no conocido or unknown, but that usually means that the man either did not want or was not able to acknowledge me. I had a younger brother named Luis Laureano.
All three of us: my mother, my brother, and I, are listed among the property Don Pedro left to his grandson, Juan de Alba, in his 1835 will.
